Anthropic Launches Economic Index Connector for Claude AI
Anthropic has released a new connector that brings its Economic Index directly into Claude, making it easier for people to understand how artificial intelligence is being adopted across different industries and occupations.
The Anthropic Economic Index tracks real-world usage patterns of AI in the economy. The tool was previously available primarily to researchers, journalists, and policymakers, but the new connector democratizes access to this data for anyone using Claude.
Through the connector, users can ask Claude questions such as:
- Which occupations use AI most frequently?
- How do people in specific regions use Claude?
- What tasks do professionals in particular fields rely on AI for?
- What types of work are being automated, and how has this changed over time?
Setting up the connector takes about one minute. Users can access it through the connectors menu in claude.ai, where it integrates seamlessly with any Claude model without requiring additional installations. Claude then answers questions while referencing the underlying Index data and pointing users toward the full datasets.
Anthropic emphasizes that the Index reflects usage patterns within Claude rather than representing the entire labor market. The company notes that Claude will highlight these limitations as users explore the data. All datasets remain freely available on Anthropic's website for independent analysis and research.
