Herbert Chia Appointed to HKEX Board
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has announced the appointment of Herbert Chia to its Board of Directors, effective October 29, 2024. His term will conclude at the conclusion of the HKEX Annual General Meeting in 2026.
HKEX Chairman Carlson Tong expressed his welcome for the appointment, noting that Chia brings valuable expertise in digital transformation, data strategy, and analytics. Tong stated that these skills will support HKEX's continued digital development efforts.
The appointment follows the departure of Peter Yan, who served on the HKEX Board for six months before being named Director-General of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises. Tong acknowledged Yan's contributions and congratulated him on his new position, noting that his role will contribute to Hong Kong's development as an international financial center.
HKEX is a publicly-traded company and one of the world's major exchange groups, operating equity, derivative, commodity, and fixed income markets. The organization also manages the London Metal Exchange and facilitates capital flows between China and international markets through various Connect schemes.
